Kay (Kanchana) Anand, is a Board-Certified Medical Oncologist with over two decades of experience treating a wide range of cancer and blood disorders. Since 2001, she has been part of the Southern California Kaiser Permanente Medical Group in West Los Angeles Medical Center, where she leads the Thoracic and Gynecologic Oncology program. Her practice included treatment of all solid tumors including Breast, Gastrointestinal malignancies and the treatment of hematological malignancies such as the management of acute leukemias, lymphomas and Myeloma. Dr. Anand performs procedures such as bone marrow biopsies, lumbar punctures, and intrathecal chemotherapy. She has previously practiced in Nevada and Arizona and completed her Oncology fellowship at Albert Einstein College of Medicine after training in internal medicine in New Jersey and the UK.

She has been an active participant in community oncology research through CCTAP since 2001, contributing to both laboratory and Phase III clinical trials.

Dr. Anand is licensed in California, Hawaii, and Georgia and is committed to delivering compassionate, evidence-based care to a diverse patient population.

Angelique Dore, MSN, APRN, FNP-C, OCN

Angelique Dore is an extraordinarily compassionate and hard-working oncology professional. Her clinical skills have been developed over years of increasingly complex roles. In the past, she gained experience as an inpatient telemetry nurse and then moved into the field of Oncology. As an Infusion Center Nurse, she evaluated patients for readiness for chemotherapy treatment, administered medication and did a considerable amount of counseling and teaching about medications and oncologic diagnoses. Her abilities and motivation made her an excellent candidate to advance to Nurse Practitioner training. She is an Oncology Certified Nurse and following her certification as a Nurse Practitioner, she has continued to treat cancer patients now with the ability to order diagnostic tests and prescribe treatment. She works together with our Oncology Team to deliver excellent care to the patients of the VCMC Medical System. Angelique grew up in Ventura county and has enjoyed returning to her roots. Her clinical interests center on providing education and emotional support throughout the course of cancer treatment.

Sarmen Sarkissian, M.D.

Dr. Sarkissian was born in the San Fernando Valley and grew up in Panorama City. He did his undergraduate work at UCLA and having graduated with honors he was accepted to the University of California, San Diego School of Medicine. Upon receiving his MD degree, Dr. Sarkissian did his internal medicine residency at Los Angeles County and USC Medical Center. He developed an interest in oncology and hematology during his residency and went on to complete fellowship training at the University of California, Irvine.

Dr. Sarkissian has pursued several research interests, having done laboratory work in the genomic sequencing of prostate cancer and brain tumors. He has published his research in several prestigious peer-reviewed medical journals. His current clinical interest is in breast cancer.

Dr. Sarkissian is bilingual in English and Armenian. His personal perspective on patient care is that every patient and their scenario is unique. He believes that patients teach us true medicine. Dr.Sarkissian has brought his outstanding expertise in oncology and hematology to the VCMC medical system. He is an excellent doctor and we are fortunate to have him available for patient consultation in hematology and oncology.

Isabella Chen, MD

Dr. Chen grew up in Arcadia, California and was an exceptional student. She had a passion for medicine from an early age and as a high school senior was accepted into the Penn State accelerated BS/MD program in collaboration with Jefferson Medical College. After spending six years on the East Coast, she returned to California to train in internal medicine at the Scripps Green Hospital in San Diego. She soon discovered her interest in helping patients with cancer and blood diseases. After completing her internal medicine residency, she went on to complete her hematology and oncology fellowship at Olive View-UCLA Medical Center. She believes in evidence-based decision-making and strives to treat the whole person, and not just the disease, with understanding and compassion.

Michelle Azimov, MD

Dr. Azimov graduated Phi Beta Kappa from University of Michigan with a Bachelor’s of Business Administration. She received her MD from University of Michigan Medical School. She earned membership in Alpha Omega Alpha and graduated cum laude in 1997. She completed residency training in internal medicine at University of Michigan Medical Center and is Board Certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine and a Fellow of the American College of Physicians. She has worked as a hospitalist in private practice, as hospitalist teaching faculty at Ventura County Medical Center, as Associate Program Director for the Internal Medicine residency at Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital, and as the Institutional Educational Officer for Community Memorial Health System. She currently practices as a hospital medicine consultant caring for hematology-oncology and infectious disease inpatients.

Dr. Azimov loves teaching residents and has contributed to publications for several medical publishers, including MedStudy and Tarascon. She enjoys learning languages and speaks conversational Spanish. She also likes to read mysteries, watch movies, travel, bake, and spend time with her family.

John Prichard, MD

Dr. Prichard is Medical Director, Immunology Clinic, Ventura County Medical Center, and staff physician in the Hematology/Oncology Clinic. Academic appointments include Clinical Professor, UCLA School of Medicine and the Thomas J. Long School of Pharmacy, University of the Pacific. He was formally Adjunct Professor, Department of Biology, California State University at Channel Islands.

Dr. Prichard received a Masters of Health Sciences from University of California, Berkeley, and Doctor of Medicine degree from UC Irvine.

He is a Fellow of the American College of Physicians, a member of the American Academy of HIV Medicine and the American Society of Hematology.

He was formerly Assistant Professor in the Departments of Internal Medicine and Family Medicine, Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas, and served on the medical staff for the Institute for Immunological Disorders there. He has authored over forty publications and text book chapters.
