The specialty of Pulmonology deals with the treatment of disorders of the lungs. These disorders include COPD,Interstitial lung disease, asthma, pneumonia,autoimmune damage to the lungs, asbestosis,pulmonary hypertension and pulmonary embolism. Our doctors also evaluate patients with abnormal chest x-rays and CT scans of the chest. They are skilled in the diagnosing of lung cancer which, often includes the use of fiberoptic bronchoscopy. Our doctors work closely with Respiratory Therapy specialists in overseeing the VCMC Pulmonary Function Laboratory. VCMC Pulmonology doctors also provide consultation for patients in the hospital and Intensive Care Unit.
